Another entertaining adventure movie from the master film-maker Ashok Thyagi. It’s about Shera lives a poor lifestyle in Bombay along with his widower dad, a retired school-teacher, and is love with his neighbor, Sapna, who he hopes to marry some day. An action, but emotional movie with many touching moments in the script. Its argued that the idea of this movie and even the appearance of Morning News Publication was inspired by a novel ofIrwing Wallace. It is said that the novel was in circulation among the best production houses in U.S.A before this particular movie was made. So may be, an American novel was the main inspiration behind this beautiful movie.
And if its true, then Wallace truly deserves equal appreciation for this brilliant and novel concept. Havind said that, I would like to add that Ashok Thyagi too does complete justice to the plot and delivers a highly entertaining movie which leaves a very strong impact over the viewer. The emotional outburst in the climax is moving and classy.
Years later, Joshi, got inspiration from Surkhiyan and came with his own Mollywood blockbuster “New Delhi” which was also a well made film and a complete entertainer. If you believe in struggle for existence and respect the feeling of unconditional love, then watch Surkhiyan and feel it from your heart.
