A rock solid movie with strong & powerful performances to bowl you over. It’s a movie about the young couple who fall in love during 1936. Their story is narrated from the present day by an elderly man (portrayed by James Garner) telling the tale to a fellow nursing home resident (played by Gena Rowlands, who is Cassavetes' mother).
Among its brilliant star ensemble, the most powerful performance comes from Ryan Gosling as Noah Calhoun. His enigmatic appearance in the climax is a treat to watch. He makes you sit straight while walking and you can feel the impact of his impressive personality on everyone present there. The chemistry between Ryan Gosling & Rachel Mc Adams is also very pleasing and entertaining to watch. Their initial scenes are light and refreshing. Bollywood tried to create the same magic in “U,Me Aur Hum” taking inspiration from this classy movie but failed to generate a similar experience. In all it’s a highly recommended romantic drama with the most powerful personas on the screen and great punchy dialogues.
