If you have seen “Hrishikesh Mukherjee” movies then you must be familiar with his simple narration & middle class society stories filmed beautifully. "Gol Maal" also has a simple but impressive story about a subtle, yet complex love story involving the Indian middle class.
Amol Palekar is a recent college graduate who finds a job with a finicky man,Utpal Dutta , who believes that a man without a mustache is a man without a character. The melodious songs of the movie, have some real meaningful lyrics if you listen to them carefully. It is a true example of simple and straight movies, made in the 70s & 80s by our talented directors without any technical or graphical special effects and 5.1 surround sounds. Sadly, films like "Golmal" are much better than most of the movies being made today with lavish budgets and resources. A lovable treat to watch, specially for the comedy film lovers.
