I.V Shashi has always been involved in films which are innovative, entertaining but also highly inspired from other indian Cinema. Like “Aanandham Paramanandham” (1977) was inspired from the Tamil movie “Anubhavi Raja Anubhavi” (1967). His movie on a bold subject of rivenge, “Itha Ivide Vare” (1977) was very close to “Khasakkinte Ithihasam” (1969) and “Itha Oru Manushyan” in which Madhu had a lead role, was entirely based on a Hindi movie “Amanush”.
Walking down the same road, his another venture “Meen” is also based on a seen before theme of revenging a son to his father. The story is very close to a Hindi movie “Thrishool” (1978) featuring the actor Amithab Bachan. Since I haven’t seen the Hindi flick so can’t comment strongly on the similarity. But with the look of it the theme seems to on the same lines of “Meen”.
